The University of Massachusetts basketball team held off a second-half charge from Rhode Island in its first game of the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament and now the Minutemen get to stick around for an extra day. Next up is a quarterfinals matchup with the tournament’s second seed, VCU.
Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

If you won’t be making it into NYC to catch the game in person, don’t worry! We’ve got you covered as you look for somewhere to follow along with the action. Let’s take a look your options:
First off, I’d suggest giving me a follow on Twitter because I’ll be sharing commentary throughout the game that will also be part of a live blog I’ll be running right here on MassLive.com.
The first two rounds of televised games in Brooklyn are carried by the same station, which means Friday night’s UMass game will once again be aired on NBCSN. Perhaps your tv is still sitting on the channel from last night, but if not and you need help finding it, go ahead and plug your zip code into this handy channel finder.
Along with the NBCSN television broadcast comes an NBC-produced online stream of the game. That service, as always, is called NBC Live Extra on your computer desktop. For mobile devices, you can download Apple iOS and Google Android apps.
As always, fans can listen to the game on the radio with Josh Maurer and Tim Collins. Here are the local stations:
- 105.5 FM WEEI (Springfield/Amherst)
- 830 AM WCRN (Worcester)
- 95.5 FM WATD (South Shore)
- 1200 AM WXKS (Boston, Manchester, Providence)
If worst comes to worst, you can always just follow along with the live stats on GameTracker.
