Scott Carson has been hired as new head of video game marketing for Buddha Jones, a Hollywood-based, entertainment-focused advertising and marketing agency.
Carson spent nine years at Ant Farm, rising to the position of VP and creative director with the video game unit. He has been hired to reboot Buddha Jones’ equivalent unit, created in 2010, according to the announcement by company co-owners John Long and Dan Asma.
At Ant Farm, Carson was involved in creating a variety of advertising and gameplay video for major franchises such as Call of Duty and Guitar Hero, along with a series of Marvel-related projects. Buddha Jones’ game division has handled marketing campaigns for franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Tomb Raider, Dead Island and Far Cry.
“With his charisma, vision and creativity, we believe that our video games division is now even better positioned to take on bigger and broader marketing campaigns…” Long said.
Carson has earned a series of awards, including Game Marketing Awards, a Gold Effie, a Silver Cannes Lion, and a 2015 Grand Jury Key Art Award for the reveal trailer of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
He previously worked in exhibitor relations for Universal. He has a bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University.
Buddha Jones has worked on trailers and other marketing material for various platforms for films such as Gravity, The Wolf of Wall Street, How to Train Your Dragon 2, X Men: Days of Future Past, Nightcrawler and Unbroken, as well as TV programming such as Lilyhammer, Black Sails, Marco Polo and Hannibal.
