Peter Csathy, a digital media executive who has tracked the rise of online video for more than a decade, has launched an advisory and investment company named Creatv.
The Los Angeles firm pulls together executives with backgrounds in online video, venture capital and social media to form an advisory team. It’s their job to find investments, consult video producers and help clients navigate a crowded digital video landscape highlighted by YouTube, Snapchat and Facebook.
Clients so far include Coca-Cola, Walt Disney Co. and NBCUniversal.
“The goal here is to bring together the best minds and the most networked people,” said Csathy, who previously served as chief executive of Manatt Digital Media, a consulting, venture and legal services firm.
Csathy, who publicly announced the launch of Creatv on Tuesday, said the company is looking to invest in content creators, new video software and other technologies such as virtual reality and augmented reality.
Creatv (pronounced “creative”) advisors include Ted Cohen, a former music industry executive who’s now managing partner at consulting firm TAG Strategic; Mike Rothenberg, founder and CEO of Rothenberg Ventures; and Jonathan Skogmo, founder and CEO of Jukin Media, a leading deal maker for viral video clips.
Csathy had been at Manatt since 2013. Prior to that, he served as CEO of Sorenson Media, which makes consumer and business software for TV.
