A federal marketing organization is working with local and state tourism offices on a video to promote outdoor activities in the hopes of attracting more international visitors to the Pikes Peak Region, officials have announced.

The state Tourism Office and Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau has partnered with Brand USA to produce the two-minute short, slated to be released in November, which will spotlight hiking, biking and other adventure sports. The video will be geared towards residents in Australia, Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom, which research has shown are most interested in these activities, according to Brand USA.

Both offices have previously worked with Brand USA, which was created by Congress in 2010 after the United States experienced a nearly decade-long droop in tourism rates following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Other Brand USA videos have featured destinations in Colorado such as Ouray, Denver and Grand Junction, according to Dee Zulauf, a spokeswoman for the marketing organization.

In 2013, the trio partnered up for another tourism video advertising the Colorado Springs area that was filmed in Japanese to target potential tourists from the country. Other Brand USA videos have featured destinations in Colorado such as Ouray, Denver and Grand Junction.

« Partnering with Brand USA offers communities a valuable opportunity to be exposed to worldwide consumers, » Floy Kennedy, director of travel industry sales for the Colorado Springs bureau, said in a statement. « The potential economic impact is great – more awareness, more international inbound tourism. »
