ComScore Infographic Shows Marketers Where the Viewers Are

Before you can serve ads to online viewers or target them in video campaigns, you’ve got to know where they are. To help you out, the measurement specialists at ComScore released the following infographic, based on the findings in the latest Video Metrix report.

This is a good time for online video marketing. Live viewing of broadcast network programming has dropped almost 30 percent since the 2008-09 television season. People are watching more video than ever, though, and much of it is online: 87 percent of the U.S. internet population watches online videos.

By now you’ve probably seen a lot of stats about how fast mobile viewing is growing, but the numbers continue to rise. ComScore says that over 40 percent of all online TV viewing is done on mobile devices (31 percent on smartphones and 12 percent on tablets).

Yes, smartphones are more popular than tablets for online video, and that’s even more true for millennials or young adults. ComScore found that 60 percent of millennials watch online TV or video on their smartphones at least once a month. Moreover, 15 percent of the same group watches video on their smartphones every day.

Consumer viewing habits have drastically changed in the past few years, ComScore says. Check out the infographic below for more tips on where to find viewers.
