Hopkinton-based EMC Corp. is raising eyebrows and setting records in a new viral marketing video that sends a tractor-trailer soaring over a Formula 1 race car.
In the video, a tractor-trailer branded with the EMC logo drives up and off a ramp at 70 mph, sending the truck flying through the air for 83 feet, 7 inches.
But the real heart-stopping moment of the stunt is not when the rig goes airborne — it’s when an EMC-sponsored Formula 1 race car darts across the asphalt and passes under the flying truck.
Not surprisingly, the two drivers — Mike Ryan and Martin Ivanov — are Hollywood stunt veterans who have worked on action movies including the « Fast and Furious, » James Bond and Jason Bourne movie franchises.
The jump was witnessed and certified by Guinness World Records as the longest tractor-trailer jump ever.
The video has been posted on YouTube and has more than 10.5 million views.
